I’m an RN, personal trainer, and functional nutrition coach in my 40s. I know what it’s like to experience hormone changes, have thyroid issues, and think you should be able to figure it all out on your own.
I’ve always been active and eaten healthy. Like many people, I thought getting the look I wanted meant more cardio and less food. That clearly wasn’t working for me. My hair was falling out. I was bloated, puffy, and exhausted. I could fall asleep anywhere. I had no libido. The harder I tried, the worse I looked and felt.
My hormone levels were those of a postmenopausal woman. I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism and given thyroid medication, but I still had symptoms and a whole lot of unanswered questions.
I wanted to understand why I felt so bad when I thought I was doing everything right. That sent me down the functional nutrition rabbit hole. I started putting the pieces together: years of under-eating, overtraining, too little sleep, and asking way too much of my body inside and outside the gym had started to add up.
It was more complex than that, but these were important pieces no doctor had ever discussed with me in all of my years of appointments. I started addressing them, and those changes were a big part of my transformation.
My nursing background is another big part of why I’m here. I spent years in the hospital caring for people with chronic disease and saw the toll it takes when people put their health on the back burner. Poor nutrition, too little sleep, high stress, being sedentary, and not having enough muscle add up over time, and eventually the body says “enough.” I wanted to help people prevent chronic disease and take a more proactive role in their health before they reach that breaking point.
I use an evidence-based approach, my education, and years of experience to create a plan to help you get unstuck. I’m going to meet you where you’re at and layer in changes little by little.
I do my best work with people who are fed up with starting over and open to doing things differently. This is not another version of the same diet and workouts you’ve done before. You have to be open to changing how you approach nutrition and training. After all, if your current approach was getting you where you want to be, you wouldn’t be reading this.
